Early works on the contract involved the demolition of existing concrete and steel structures, decommissioning and removal of existing silos and tanks and underpinning existing factoryfoundations.
McMackin Contracts Ltd (MMC) assisted the specialist contractor installing the secant pile wall by constructing the piling matt, constructing the guide wall for the piling rig and breaking the piles to the correct level ready for capping beam. MMC constructed the capping beam including all reinforcement fixing, formwork and placing of concrete.
The main works include bulk excavation and the removal and haulage of excavated material to a licensed waste facility. Footpath alterations and the formation of a second site entrance off the main carriageway.

• Pad and strip foundation construction including setting out, fixing reinforcement, formwork (beamform) and placing the structural concrete.
• Construction of a new site road includingdrainage works, service diversions and installations and formation of the road leaving it ready for tarmac.
• The installation of drainage/ deep drainage and a storm attenuation tank.
• Alterations to walls and floor layout inside the live factory environment.
